AMT steel machines are part of the most modern continuous casting plant in the world

In IJmuiden, one of the most important continuous casters for Tata Steel went into operation. Alpine Metal Tech is involved with a total of eight machines.

Tata Steel's steel mill in the Netherlands is considered one of the most modern in Europe. More than 7,000,000 tons of steel are produced annually for the automotive, construction, mechanical engineering and packaging industries. With an investment of 220 million euros, the new, third continuous caster forms the heart of the Dutch plant, which now makes it possible to produce an even wider range of innovative steels.

The plant whole plant is is approximately 35 meters long and produces slabs ranging from 8 to 12 meters in length. The following eight Alpine Metal Tech machines have been put into operation:

  • 2 shroud manipulators
  • 2 torch cutting machines with integrated sample marker (see picture),
  • 2 deburrers,
  • 2 color marking robots
