Procedure for efficient scrap-cutting of defective slabs successfully tested

08.06.2018

In May this year a successful attempt was performed to scrap-cut defective slabs more efficiently.

The aim was to cut six defective slabs, piled-up with a total height of 1,6 m simultaneously. For the cutting process, the specially designed scrap-cutting nozzle STD5, the portable cutting tractor CORTI as well as control and regulation technology of the brand GEGA were used.

This way of scrap-cutting can be considered a quantum leap compared to the current existing process, in which the defective slabs are cut manually one after another. With the newly developed procedure multiple slabs can be scrap-cut simultaneously in longitudinal and cross direction and is more efficient with a significant reduction of time and effort.
