At the beginning of the year, Alpine Metal Tech successfully commissioned an optical testing cell for drive housings of electric cars (Heat ZGH Gen 5) at Albert Weber in Markdorf.

After the mechanical processing of the housing, the robot cell checks all functionally relevant surfaces for defects such as blowholes or damages. This allows NOK parts to be automatically ejected from the production flow.
Handling robots and turntables move the drive housing within the cell and bring it into the perfect testing position. At the inspection stations, the surfaces of the component are analyzed using specially developed optical sensors and evaluated in parallel on several PCs. The inspection can be carried out for flat functional surfaces using topography scan technology as well as for lateral surfaces using bore rotation or endoscope sensors.
For manual checking, the defects are displayed visually at the final inspection station to enable a quick follow-up check.
Thanks to the good cooperation with the customer and the efforts of our experienced commissioning team, the optical inspection system was installed within a very short time.
