5-strand billet torch cutting machine successfully commissioned in China

This new casting line is equipped with 5 linear cutting billet machines - type BLM (= Billet Linear Machine) from our brand GEGA. The billet sizes vary between 250 x 250mm and 380 x 450mm and require a specific powder system for cutting due to the special materials.

The time pressure due to delays in the delivery of the continuous casting plant in China as well as the situation shaped by the pandemic in form of travel and contact restrictions required our commissioning engineers to be extremely flexible and creative.

In the end, the system was commissioned for the first time via “remote” commissioning within 2 weeks and is running smoothly. This "remote" commissioning included an almost permanent telephone interaction with the customer, real-time integration for the automation and mechanics of the system as well as immediate adjustments in the control system.

Even Covid 19 couldn´t stop us…
