GEGA torch cutting machines at 4-strand bloom cutting plant MaSteel, China.
The machines are designed to cut round blooms with diameters ranging from Ø 600 to Ø 1200 mm, operating at a casting speed between 0.12 to 0.36 m/min. They are equipped with infinitely electrically driven torch height adjustment to ensure a consistent distance between the material and the torch.
To determine the cutting length, calculations will be performed by the customer's control system through the overall caster control.
The gas control panel for the four strands is equipped with common GEGA dome valves. Mass flow regulators for gas and oxygen allow individual media adjustments for each machine. The machines are equipped with main torches and cutting torches, featuring the GEGA-cutting nozzle types SDS 61 FP / SDS 75 FP. These nozzles are designed to optimize the material cutting kerf and reduce media consumption.
Furthermore, iron powder equipment is provided to address process requirements arising from the chemical composition of the material to be cut.
The design of the electrical control system is based on a Siemens CPU 1515, with a separate PLC for each strand, ensuring continuous operation in case of any control failure. Main control is managed via remote HMI through the control room, while local control is facilitated with individual panels equipped with HMI.
The scope includes four machines and one spare machine, one gas control panel, one control and switchgear plant, media distribution piping, and engineering for the new supporting structure, as well as a dedusting hood.
