Alpine Metal Tech – GEGA has been awarded with the contract for supply and commissioning of a 4-strands beam blank cutting plant by PRIMETALS TECHNOLOGIES JAPAN for the end user YAMATO STEEL for their steel plant operating in Himeji, Japan.

The machines are designed to handle blooms up to 650 mm width as well as beam blanks of different formats, and are equipped with torch height control by infinitely adjusted electric driven cylinders. This ensures constant distance between torch and product surface.

The gas control panel for four strands is equipped with common AMT-GEGA regulators for gas and oxygen. Individual media fine-adjustment is done by additional mass-flow controllers on the machines, located nearby the cutting torch. The machines are equipped with the patented GEGA-cutting nozzle type SDS 40 F, which optimizes material cutting and reduces media consumption.

The electrical control system is based on MITSUBISHI Melsec-Series with individual PLC’s. Each machine can be controlled by the main and run-out control room as well as by an individual local control desk. The strand speed, thus clamping signal of the machine, is given by the strand PLC.

The scope of delivery includes 4 machines, 1 gas control panel, 1 control and switchgear plant, 3 local control facilities and the complete engineering to adapt the new supporting structure to the clients existing plant layout.

It is proven by the successful commissioning of this plant that AMT-GEGA is able to supply electrical control systems tailormade and according to individual costumers’ selection.

We thank our customer for constructive collaboration and all involved Alpine Metal Tech team for successful project realization.
